PROjECt.9. featuring Savion Glover

Europas största steppdansfestival, STOCKHOLM INTERNATIONAL TAP DANCE FESTIVAL, presenterar stolt PROjECt.9. featuring SAVION GLOVER! Legendariske dansaren Savion Glover kommer för första gången till Sverige och framför sin senaste produktion med stepp & livemusik, som öppningsshow för årets festival!

Savion Glover är en hyllad artist, koreograf, regissör och skådespelare som har förnyat och moderniserat stepp och fört dansen in i nutiden.

Savion startade sin karriär i början av 80-talet och han omtalas som en av största faktorerna till återvitaliserandet av stepp i USA, bl a genom att få en helt ny generation av unga att intressera sig för denna dans- och musiktradition. Redan som 10-åring debuterade han på Broadway, i huvudrollen i "The Tap Dance Kid", och 1989 blev han som en av de yngsta någonsin nominerad till en Tony Award för sin medverkan i succén "Black and Blue". Han har sedan dess nominerats fler gånger och 1996 vann han bästa koreografi i flerfaldigt belönade "Bring in da Noise, bring in da Funk”.

Savions konstnärsskap är starkt rotat i traditionen samtidigt som han har en modern unik stil och en utmanande kreativitet som blickar mot framtiden. Han har framträtt på scen tillsammans med andra stora artister som Stevie Wonder och Sonny Rollins, spelat in låt med Prince, och uppträtt i eget namn på den prestigefyllda Newport Jazz Festival.

STOCKHOLM INTERNATIONAL TAP DANCE FESTIVALl is very proud to present PROjECt.9. featuring SAVION GLOVER, performing for the grand opening of the 2025 festival! For the first time in Sweden, legendary dancer Savion Glover will be presenting his latest live music production.

Significantly categorized as an illustrious celebration of sound, “PROjECt.9. featuring Savion Glover”will make their Stockholm debut performing in concert at the Stockholm Tap Festival.

Introducing original dance compositions and instrumental score written by Savion Glover, in addition to the expression of him that will be present through The Dance, Mr. Glover will also display his musicianship as percussionist in this percussive lead movement of sound.

Honoring his mentors and educators of The Dance this production is not your ordinary “tap show”. In fact Mr. Glover has dispose with the word “tap” as too limiting when describing his mentors or this performance and prefers to think of it as an entertaining journey exploring movement through sound education and dance.

“PROjECt.9. featuring Savion Glover” inspires sound belonging to a particular narrative initiated by those of Mythological-Ancestral Codes, The HooFeRz. While honoring the Supreme contribution from other Divine Intelligent Sound Masters this evening of collectives will also continue to explore and share limitless realms of Self-Expression with the community of Stockholm.
